Style Rules 1! DO’s and DON’TS

DO’s:
  •   Even when there is a business casual dress code policy, dress conservative on the interview. Once you get the job, you are free to switch to business casual and add in your own personal touches.
  •  Review the company dress code policy. Further look how your coworkers and managers are dressed. Never out dress your boss or be under-dressed in comparison to your coworkers.
  •  Keep it simple. You do not have to spend a fortune to dress business casual. Dressing too expensive can give out the wrong impression such as bad money management skills.
  •  Wear a fabric that is easy to take care of such as cotton, which is comfortable and will reduce body odor.

Don’ts:
  • Do not wear your clubbing; beach and sports clothes to work leave these items at home. Items such as Hawaiian shirts, sandals, scuba gear, flashy jewelry, straw hats, cowboy boots, and hiking boots, running shoes are all big NO NOs.
  • Do not wear a full suit to work unless you are at an interview. A simple solution to look professional and business casual is wearing a sports jacket or blazer, which still may be considered too overdressed for some businesses.
  •  Do not wear clothing that is too tight or to loose,   be comfortable and professional.

Sometimes it is better not to make a big entrance......
